Glass

All Glass should be recycled.  For every 1 tonne of glass recycled we save 1.2 tonnes of the raw materials needed to make glass. Recycling glass also uses much less energy than turning the raw materials into new glass.

Glass items should be put in the bins marked 'Glass, Plastic and Metal'

The florists and floristry school love to be able to reuse glass jars and bottles for floral displays, and we love reusing old jars and bottles to pickle and preserve goods from the Walled Garden, so please check with the Cookery School manager before throwing away old glass.

Please note that the Pyrex used in the cookery school cannot be recycled as the additaves used to make can explode in the recycling furnaces.  Please wrap Pyrex carefully and place it in the general waste bins provided.
